Does the coinage mancakes ring a bell? If it doesn’t stick and you’ll find out what I am talking about, and if you do, (and no, I am not referring to the naughty definition you must have thought of) then I am sure you are eager to see what tasty pancake recipes I have in store for you. Mancakes are there to celebrate pancake recipes that include beer in their batter. The cake-part obviously comes from pancake, and men are the ones associated with beer, hence MAN. I found what was possibly the best beer containing pancake recipe on a food site called MyGreatRecipes. Yes, I went through Over 100 American Pancake Recipes just to find the perfect one, and I did find it!
Man, are these (M)Pancakes Good!
The Bacon Guinness Chocolate Pancakes with a Frothy Whipped Cream Head and Guinness Chocolate Syrup. No, it is not your eyesight, you did see the word Guinness twice in the name of this recipe, and it is precisely this fact that got me to prepare these pancakes. Now, to be honest you can’t make these if you are a total tabula rasa in terms of pancake making, but if you have at least prepared several batches of regular pancakes, then you are pretty much good to go. Now these pancakes are as fluffy as a pancake can be, the secret? Replacing milk with beer, and what’s more they are the definition of a great sweet and salty combination. With bacon embedded inside the batter you will get a taste of sweet pancake and salty bacon crumbled inside and top all of this with some Guinness Chocolate syrup and what you’ll get is a manly man’s pancake stack! (though women can just as easily devour it, trust me, I should know J). As for the chocolate beer syrup, it’s easy peasy, just replace your water with beer and you’ll have yourselves the best chocolate syrup ever!
Different Beer Pancakes combinations
There’s a vast number of mancake variations, I mean they are so much like regular pancakes that you can get equally as creative. Now, how about a mancake with bacon, cheese and onions? Though nothing can top the Guinness pancakes, these come the closest to it. I mean, what’s there not to like: maple syrup and bacon are a match made in heaven, add some beer and onions to the equation and what you’ll get is pure awesomeness. And the cheese part? The perfect way to bring everything together. I made these for our weekend neighborhood barbeque, and I ended up being the star there. There were literally 15 men waiting in row for my pancakes from the right side, and just as many women waiting to hear my recipe from the left side. A bit overwhelming ne would say, but pretty enjoyable as well.
If you think your man can handle these pancakes, go ahead and surprise him with one, or both these recipes, or if you are a man reading this, then see if you can cook with beer with the same ease as drinking it.
